You’ll find it helpful to read through some of the Frequently Asked Questions we receive about living at a Clanwilliam Aged Care facility.
Is there a vacancy?
First, we need to determine which of Clanwilliam’s four facilities would be best suited to the care requirements. Then we can match any vacancies with those needs.

How do I start the admissions process?
If you don’t already have an Aged Care Assessment to qualify someone for placement, then this is the first step. Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.
An Aged Care Assessment is needed for both permanent and respite care and we can’t usually organise a placement until you have this assessment.
If you do have a My Aged Care Client Referral Code (it starts with 1-) please enter this into the Enquiry Form.
What is the cost?
The cost varies according to each person’s circumstances. From July 2014, all residents entering Australian Government approved facilities as Permanent Residents must undergo compulsory Assets and Income Assessment.
You can start the assets and income assessment process by phoning 1800 200 422.
ALL permanent and respite care residents pay a daily fee which is set by the Australian Government and adjusted twice yearly in accordance with CPI pension increases.
Depending on the outcome of the compulsory Assets and Income Assessment, some permanent residents may be asked for a Payment or Contribution. This may be a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD), Daily Payment (DAP) or Daily Contribution (DAC). Some permanent residents may be asked to pay a Means Tested Fee.
The Department of Human Services will advise each person in writing of their specific requirements.
What is the food like?
All our meals are prepared fresh every day at each facility by our caring chefs, using fresh ingredients. The menu changes every week and is assessed by a qualified dietitian to ensure optimal nutrition. The menu reflects the season as well as our residents’ choices, and it includes three meals, morning and afternoon tea, supper, and snacks and drinks at any time. Each week’s menu is posted on notice boards throughout each facility.
All special dietary requirements are catered for, including textured modified foods and liquids as required.
What activities are available?
There’s a wide range of activities on offer, including leisure, lifestyle, cultural and spiritual activities.
The specific activities are determined by the interests, preferences and abilities of the residents. Every week, the calendar of activities changes and it’s displayed in several locations throughout each facility.
Our activities staff strive to engage our residents in activities every day to ensure their enjoyment of life.
What type of bed is provided?
It is a fully adjustable, hospital-style bed with a pressure-relieving mattress that is designed for maximum comfort.
All bed linen and towels are provided and laundered regularly in our in-house laundry. Residents are welcome to bring their own bed coverings.
Call bells or buzzers are fitted to every bed and in bathrooms.
Is palliative or end-of-life care available?
Yes. We provide sensitive and professional palliative care. We strive to honour the wishes of our residents for their end-of-life care.
What are the Visiting Hours?
There are no time restrictions on visiting your loved one. We do ask those who are not well to refrain from visiting. We also ask that children be supervised at all times by an adult.
